We're delighted to announce that 24-year-old design student from Christchurch Denise (Jieyi) Fung is the winner of our 2015 Mental Health Awareness Week Art Competition. The judging panel was very impressed with the level of thought and detail that went in to her entry. We love the concept, the vibrant colours and the many intricate details in the design.
Denise will receive a $500 gift voucher koha, and her artwork will form the basis of this year’s MHAW poster, which will be distributed free throughout NZ in the lead-up to Mental Health Awareness Week.
We received so many exceptional creative submissions that selection took a lot longer than we anticipated, so thank you to all the artists who gifted us their time and energy for this project.
A big thank you, too, for the encouragement given by tutors and supporters: Olivia Hall and the Certificate in Maori Visual Arts class at NMIT, and Rebecca Shawyer and the whaiora at Te Mana Oranga.
We're sad we could only choose one final artwork, but we will be featuring as many as possible in our online gallery closer to Mental Health Awareness Week. Keep an eye out on the news section of our website for this and other MHAW announcements.
