The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is celebrating marathon runner and fundraiser extraordinaire Mal Law’s efforts after he, yet again, exceeded his goals for mental health.
Following the epic success of the Partner’s Life High Five-0 Challenge for Mental Health, Mal proudly handed over a cheque worth $507,416 to MHF Board Chair Jeremy Gardiner and Chief Executive Judi Clements at a special event on Thursday.
Beyond the fundraising, Mal wanted to encourage others to embrace the Five Ways to Wellbeing, set goals, enjoy the outdoors and talk about mental health.
“Not only did we get those messages out there, but I know that without a shadow of a doubt that we effected lives and saved lives,” Mal says.
“That was possible not only because of what I dreamed and planned, but because of the people who got behind it,” he says.
Mal thanked everyone involved, but his wife Sally, got special mention: “If you think that running 50 marathons is hard, try living with the man who wants to do it.”
Key sponsors Partner’s Life, Mazda and Marmot joined Mal’s support crew, friends and MHF staff to celebrate Mal’s success at the MHF office last week.
