In the wake of the Mental Health and Addiction Inquiry Report, the Power Threat Meaning Framework is a viable attempt to outline a conceptual alternative to the diagnostic model of mental distress and unusual experiences. The Power Threat Meaning Framework was funded by the British Psychological Society and was developed by psychologists in conjunction with people with lived experience. The Framework aims to restore the links between personal distress and social injustice and inequality, and can be used to help people to create more hopeful narratives about their lives and difficulties.
