Mental Health Foundation to benefit from Folden auction
Media Release
27 April
The Mental Health Foundation' ‘Out of the Blue depression campaign is proud to be the recipient charity for The Rock radio station's Folden auction.
Depression is one of the most common forms of mental illness and, when Roger Farrelly, one of The Rock's Morning Rumble hosts, spoke on air about his personal experience with depression it once again highlighted the fact that mental illness can affect people across all ages, races and economic groups and is not something you can just 'snap out of'.
"Most people who experience depression make a successful recovery and the first step is seeking help," Judi Clements, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation, says.
"It is great The Rock has chosen us to be the beneficiaries of such a truly unique project."
Kristy Craig, Network Marketing Manager at The Rock, says "creating a half Ford, half Holden vehicle has really resonated with our majority adult male audience, so we wanted a beneficiary that directly assists this group.
"Given the startling numbers of men in New Zealand that experience depression each year, Out of the Blue was an obvious choice."
The Folden is a 'mechanical Frankenstein', a half Holden, half Ford devised byThe Rock's Drive Show announcers, Robert Taylor and Jono Pryor, as a way to unite their listeners and put an end to the age old battle that is Holden vs Ford.
The Folden has cost approximately $85,000-$95,000, taken over after three months, 800 plus man hours, 70 trades people and the help of over two dozen companies to complete, and is currently being auctioned on TradeMe with an end date of Thursday 6 May at 4:00 pm.
