About the Auckland Regional Team

The Auckland Like Minds, Like Mine team wants to help organisations and groups to create mentally healthy environments, respect human rights, promote equality, and to recognise and counter discrimination.

Our team is well qualified and has extensive experience working with community organisations and agencies.

The Mental Health Foundation is New Zealand's largest and longest-standing non-government mental health advocacy and promotion organisation. As part of the Foundation, our team has:

  • A wealth of information and resources.
  • Close contact with the Foundation's wider staff and their expertise.
  • An emphasis on diversity with a strong sense of culture with multicultural staff and access to external expertise.
  • Extensive links throughout Aotearoa / New Zealand.

Our work is evidence-based and draws on our professional and personal experience. We incorporate current legislation and government policy as well as the perspective of people with lived experience of mental illness.

We make use of the latest research and provide new perspectives on mental health and discrimination,eg, exploring language, the effects of stigma and discrimination on recovery, and focusing on developing positive mental health.
