ALAC Research Database
Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand. This database provides bibliographic details without abstracts for more than 700 alcohol-related research and other publications produced by New Zealand researchers from January 1990 to present. It is intended as a basic resource for researchers, educators, health workers, community organizations, policymakers, and others with an interest in New Zealand-specific alcohol-related issues.
Cochrane Reviews
A collection of regularly updated evidence-based healthcare databases that can help clinicians and consumers make decisions about appropriate and effective health care. The Library brings together in one place research which looks at the effectiveness of different health care treatments and interventions.
Community Research
The place to find good community research and researchers in New Zealand. The website is Aotearoa's premier hub for research papers, articles, case studies and documentation about the tangata whenua, community and voluntary sector. You can use it to upload your research, join or create discussion forums, find research and researchers, help pass on new ideas and good practice, and share your expertise with others. More than 200 people and organisations have already contributed research to the site on topics such as generosity, volunteering, community development, social inclusion, cultural diversity and capacity building.
Find Articles NZ
FindNZarticles was launched 20 December, 2005 to provide a federated search to a range of New Zealand newspapers and journals.
Christchurch City Libraries, Dunedin Public Libraries, Landcare Research NZ Ltd and the National Library of New Zealand Te Puna MÄtauranga o Aotearoa participated in the pilot phase of the Collaborative Indexing Project to examine the feasibility and usefulness of collaborative indexing within New Zealand. Following the successful completion of the pilot, additional participants are invited to contribute indexing data in order to establish FindNZarticles as a valuable access tool for the wider library community.

Impact Research
The vision at Impact Research is to contribute to a just society where people have a voice, where communities are resourced to work together and realise their goals, and where families and individuals are safe. Their main contribution is to strengthen social service outcomes through rigorous, accessible and participatory research. A particular focus is providing research into families, older people and people with disabilities.
Index New Zealand
Index New Zealand (INNZ) contains abstracts of selected New Zealand serial publications, including newspapers and nearly 300 New Zealand journals about New Zealand and the South Pacific. Comprehensive coverage of titles extends from 1987 onwards and approximately 2,000 documents are added monthly. Subjects covered include general interest material, social research, current affairs, the arts and humanities. Alexander Turnbull Library staff have also retrospectively indexed many New Zealand titles.

New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse
The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse is the national centre for collating and disseminating information about domestic and family violence in Aotearoa New Zealand. The aim of the Clearinghouse is to provide resources for people interested in working towards the elimination of family violence. Includes: a bibliographic database with research abstracts, online community action toolkit, and good practice database.
New Zealand Research.org.nz: Kiwi Research Information Service
Publically available research published by NZ Universities and Polytechnics. This website is a gateway to the open-access research documents produced at universities, polytechnics, and other research institutions throughout New Zealand. The website has harvested research document metadata from around New Zealand and collected it in one place. You can use this website to search for research, look up specific subjects or authors, browse the research in various ways, and keep abreast of emerging research activity.
Nursing New Zealand Research Database
This web site is the premier source of information about New Zealand Nursing Research. The success of this electronic resource can be attributed to two groups:
- Members of the Nursing Research Section NZNO who have collected and collated information on New Zealand Nursing research since 1977. Special acknowledgement must be given to Audrey Butler, Beverley Jarvis, Dr Margaret Idour, Jane O'Malley, Philippa Seaton and Dianne Harker.
- The nurse researchers who provide the data about themselves and their research.
NREPP searchable database of evidence-based practices
In the US, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) has launched this database of evidence-based practices in prevention and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, referred to as the new National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP). NREPP has up-to-date, reliable information on the scientific basis and practicality of interventions. Users can perform custom searches to identify specific interventions based upon desired outcomes, target populations and service settings.
OTseeker: Occupational Systemic Evaluation of Evidence
A team of five occupational therapists, from two Australian universities, were responsible for developing the OTseeker database. In March 2001 in Brisbane, Queensland during an International Symposium on Evidence-Based Occupational Therapy, a multi-national working group was established. The aim of the group was to plan effective strategies for collecting, disseminating and classifying evidence related to occupational therapy practice.
The PILOTS Database: an electronic index to Post Traumatic Stress Literature
The PILOTS database is an electronic index to the worldwide literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health consequences of exposure to traumatic events. It is produced by the National Center for PTSD, and is available to the public on computer systems maintained by Dartmouth College. There is no charge for using the database, and no account or password is required. As of August 2006 there were 30,290 references (almost all including abstracts) in the database.
PubMed
PubMed, a service of the US National Library of Medicine, includes over 15 million citations for biomedical articles back to the 1950's. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life science journals. PubMed includes links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.
Te Ipu Whakahaua: Maori Mental Health Bibiliography Database (Matatini)
This database has been funded by the Ministry of Health to ensure more ready access to research, literature, and conference papers relating to MÄori mental health. Over 1200 abstracts are included, with many links and full text articles as well as a growing collection of Master's and PhD theses.
Te Pou Research Database of NZ Mental Health Research
Developed by Te Pou, this is a database of New Zealand mental health research that provides information about ongoing research and recently completed research projects, giving researchers another avenue to promote their research. It also showcases inspiring initiatives and service developments from around New Zealand. A funding library helps to direct you to sources of potential funding for your research project, while the tools for learning support those wishing to produce their own research. There is also a links page to find searchable national and international mental health research databases, bibliographies and research networks.
