New Resources
The Mental Health Foundation is excited to announce the upcoming launch of two new interactive arts based resources to promote the positive wellbeing of young people.
![]() | The Lost Bag The Lost Bag is a creative means to promote the social and emotional wellbeing of young people and encourage their consideration of issues around mental health and help-seeking behaviour. It has been designed to meet curriculum requirements at Years 7 to 10 and will also be of use to other people in the community who work with adolescents generally. The resource is based on the story of a young person who has run away from home whose values, attitudes, needs and hopes are explored through process drama and various creative activities, before students are asked to help work out why the young person has run away and what they can do to help. In doing so, they safely rehearse their own issues and consider who they can turn to and where they might seek help. The Lost Bag will be available with training early 2006.

![]() | Headspin Headspin is a Like Minds Like Mine anti-discrimination programme for senior secondary school teachers and other people in the community who work with young people and / or in anti-discrimination. Based on the fictional story of a parent concerned about the music of a musician called Matt, Headspin takes students through a range of drama, art and / or music based activities to investigate clues about Matt's music. In doing so they discover that his music is based on his experiences of mental health issues, and that the parent's concern is actually based on discrimination, which the students are given the opportunity, in role, to challenge. They therefore reflect on the basis of their own and others' beliefs and attitudes, develop skills in advocacy, and have increased awareness about mental distress and issues of discrimination generally - all in a really funky, creative way! In this way, young people and their peers with early experiences of mental health problems will feel better supported to access any support needed and maintain a valued place in their communities. Headspin will be available with training early 2006.
