Foreword
Welcome to Issue 22 of MindNet.
Happy New Year to you!
Every January we say this to each other as a matter of course - it's tradition, and it usually comes with a number of resolutions, too, to make our lives healthier, happier, better.
In this issue of MindNet we bring you more than just resolutions! We give simple ways to actually make yourself happy, and how to stretch that happiness out over your whole year - even your whole life! Find out more by reading The happiness mindset, Walk 4 Wellbeing, and Flourishing, positive mental health & Wellbeing.
Also in this issue of MindNet we:
- Bring you a profile on Anthony Streeter - a young man assisting children and young people with their self-esteem and resilience.
- Find out about the Maori Ora Mauri Ora model and respect awards.
- Meet Alison Blyth - a woman on a cycling mission to raise awareness of, and funds for, mental health.
- Catch up on latest news from the Mental Health Foundation.
- Share a selection of profiles on men.
- Find out more about the fun and fitness in Hula Hooping.
- Hear how Trieste can teach us alternative ways of looking at mental health services.
- Learn how to cook low budget, healthy meals for our families.
- Take a look at mindfulness (in our reading list).
Remember, you can share your feedback by leaving a comment at the bottom of each page. We're always looking for case studies and profiles about people and projects in New Zealand with a focus on mental health promotion and wellness.
If you can recommend a wellness or mental health promotion service, project or programme that we could feature in MindNet - or would like to contribute an article yourself - please email mindnet@mentalhealth.org.nz
In the meantime, we hope you can find happiness in every day, in a thousand different ways.
Naku iti-nei
