Foreword
Welcome to Issue 17 of MindNet. From this issue onwards you will notice a change in the frequency of MindNet. Instead of bringing you an entire issue every quarter, we have decided to release the newsletter more frequently and bring you four to six articles each time. This is so you can enjoy each article in a timely manner.
This issue is now complete. In it, we take a look at some of the challenges, research and projects around refugee mental health. We find out about Dale Little's Somali Project, and her profile on one refugee and his experience - Dr Ziad Hamid.
Dr Lynne Briggs shares her recent research on the mental health of refugee men and we also take a look at the mental health of Pacific Island fathers (courtesy of Le Va's Pacific Health Dialog).
Youth are another focus in this issue, so Richie Paine talks about his work as a mental health promoter for VIBE and Natasha Cully shares her Striding Forward project.
Te Pou bring us up to date on their work on Let's get real, and Hugh Norriss explains what happened at the Happiness conference earlier in the year.
Other articles this issue are:
- Recent news
- The ins and outs of Featbeat
- A reading list for those who may have experienced the impacts of seasonal affective disorder
- Vanessa Cooper's book review.
We would also love your feedback on this online newsletter, so please tell us what you think!
Naku iti-nei, Judi Clements
